✞1 Day since my Last Confession✞

[]Matthew 10:34-39

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth:
I came not to send peace, but a sword.
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,
and the daughter against her mother,
and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me:
and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
And he that taketh not his cross,
and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

He that findeth his life shall lose it:
and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
[]

[☨]In his restless dream, he saw that place. Midian. With it's seas of blood and mountains of corpses. He fell amongst the valley in the shadow of death. And as the torture stakes raised to pit him on the pikes, he wailed out, for not one was with him.[☨]

A-ah--

AAAAHH!!!

[☨]The man, petrified before the screen, was staring up one-eye wide at the canopy of spires around him. His back slammed against one of the larger poles, knocking a half-rotted beast-corpse down, it's skull landing in his lap. It's frost-bitten 'face' was so marred from gangrene he couldn't even tell what it used to be, let alone pinned there long enough to figure it out. He kicked the creature off, nausea threatening to wretch up something as vile as that thing.. no.. those things.

Monsters of all abominations hung as trophies in all grotesque manners, surrounding him, as stark fear threatened to plague and immobilize the man dressed in a black cassock reserved for bishops in missionaries abroad.

Dizzied with adrenaline, scattered confusion, and penchant to save his own skin from the owner of this quaint 'garden', the holy man made a run for it. Only to stop short when he turned to grab a gold-threaded scarlet stole that lied in front of the screen. He gave the device a quick look-over, a perturbed leer in his veridian eyes at the note of 'Use this'. Some heathen-scum's dropped blackberry? Whatever![☨]

Oh to Hell with this den of Sin!

[☨]The blonde-haired man snatched the device up and dashed as far as he could go. Passing through a desecrated graveyard, tripping over downed tombstones, leaping over open graves, he only came to a halt beneath the shadow of a large stone cross. Leaning against it for support, just as he felt the Lord supported him, his calculating mind slowly cleared of haze as the previous events but moments ago flashed forward.[☨]

Those seven million, four hundred and five thousand, nine hundred and twenty-six demons of hell!

[☨]The archbishop looked about the cold, dead, snow-blanketed atmosphere with twitching chagrin.[☨]

The 9th Crusade--the Knights of the Sagely Brethren! The Order of Calatrava La Nueva! St. Stefano di Toscana! The Order of Malta!

Iscariot.

ANDERS--

[☨]Just to speak the name sent a cold fury sweeping through him that he didn't quite understand.[☨]

...Where in God's name are they!? For that matter.. how long was I out?! Did they...

Have I?

Ha.. HA HA!

[☨]A manic laughter chilled up from the snake-pit that was his breast, a hand clutching at his face as he purposely failed to keep himself together. The joy on his face was insanity incarnate.[☨]

Aah ha ha haaa!! It's over! The war's over! Through the Lord's will I am the vic--

[☨]The overzealous man's tirade of victory was cut short when something snagged on his glimmering stole, and he came eyes to... no-eyes with what could best be described as a walking mummified cadaver. A ReDead.[☨]

UNHAND ME YOU FILTHY ABOMINATION! THAT'S MINE! I EARNED IT!

[☨]Taking to a tug-of-war with the filthy demon, he would rather choke on a Protestant communion wafer and die than give up the one symbol of his ordained power.[☨]

RITE 2 ACTION

[It was the screaming that first caught his attention. A panicked cry that he was used to hearing, unfortunately enough. Or, perhaps, fortunately. Or else he might have just brushed the sound off as maybe a monster or just someone getting spooked.

He knew better than that though, and, for the second time in just a few short days, he snatched up his coat and scarf and headed out quickly, keen hearing telling him roughly where the frightened stranger might be.

... The graveyard.

Well... that would explain the screaming, he was sure. He heard a snippet of a familiar name, which only caused him to speed up, worried quite frankly, that the owner of said half uttered name had finally snapped and taken it upon himself to remove any trespassers at all from the churches ground.

Instead... well...

Oh, here was a familiar scene. Rather, a familiar face, cheekily tugging on the holy garment like it was a tug of war rope.

Thankfully, Abel knew he didn't have to expend his bullets on the beast.

With a sigh, the taller priest simply trotted over, lay his hands on the shambling grotesque, and simply... tipped it over.

WHUMP.

And the scarf was free.

He offered a sheepish, though reassuring smile to the poor man.]

Ah...

They... look scarier than they really are.

[The flustered holy man dropped on his rear in a small flurry of snow.]

Oof!

[He took to rubbing the numbness out and dusting this ice and filth off of himself. Ignoring the stranger's address he took to straightening himself up, fixing the buttons on his ankle-length cassock and ever so gingerly replacing the magnificently ornate stole upon his shoulders as if he were crowning himself King of the World.]

There..

[Maxwell then turned to Abel, eying him with scrutiny.]

Really? Is that so?

And here I just witnessed their lot level the cesspool of London.

[There was careful analysis of Abel's vestments. The metal arrows that lined his coat looked representative of the Lancea Longini.]

What a shame to wake up from that amorous dream, mm, Father?

Why Sir Hellsing!

[ACTION!]

[identity profile] 13sugars.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
[It was alright, he had all the time in the world. Again, the other mans attire reminded him of a time long past, before Armageddon. Like Anderson. Well, it made sense. From what he heard before, maybe the man knew him.

He waited patiently until he was addressed again.]

Really? I... I see... So you came out of a war zone...

Huh?

[His mind had been drifting, or so it seemed at least.]

Oh, yes a real tragedy. At least it's nice and quiet here. Well.. sort of at least.

Are you alright?

[He was looking the other man over for any signs of injury, worried that maybe he'd gotten bitten or scratched by the Redead, that was now just sort of squirming uselessly in the snow]

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
How did you get this frequency!?

Better yet, why isn't Anderson with you?

[identity profile] hellsingmaster.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone has it, Maxwell. It's called the "Network" or some such nonsense.

I have no idea where your precious paladin has slithered off to. I suggest you check beneath a rock.

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
[From the background of the receiver there's a sure-fire overly frustrated howl of "IDIOTS!!"]

Well Hellsing, it surely is a blessing in heathenized disguise you survived.

[identity profile] hellsingmaster.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
And the same to you, Iscariot.

Trouble with the locals?

[ACTION!]

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well that's post-Apocalyptica for you.

[The man wreaked of regalia, someone of high position and knew and lorded over it well. He'd have stared down his nose at Abel if the strange priest wasn't several inches taller than him.]

God's warriors are put to rest and now it's time to rebuild His Kingdom on earth.

[Maxwell took to the question though by unconsciously patting himself down. As if looking for the holes. The spear wounds he was so sure were just part of some hideous nightmare.]

I'm just fine. Exhilarated even.

[He smiled like a genuine serpent, casting his green-envy gaze to the dilapidated surroundings. Only to halt it when Abel obstructed his view with his large form.]

You know, I wasn't aware Section Chapter III was trained for retrieval missions.

[A shrug and a light sigh.]

Yet I suppose the Vatican is using all their resources on this blaspheme wrought land.

[The other man was already making him feel uncomfortable. Abel was no fool, after all, though he played the part of it. The others words down to his very gaze seemed to make him a bit uneasy, though he played it off expertly, giving him the typical, air-headed but kindly smile.]

Good to hear.

[The comment had him confused, and that he showed openly, even cocking his head lightly to the side, blinking owlishly at him like a perplexed puppy.]

... Section Chapter III? Oh no, I'm from AX.

[Though he doubted the other man would know what that was.]

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Nothing of concern, why I have the situation in the palm of my hand.

One of the subordinate Chapters is even here to whisk me from this wretched den of lions.

There's work to be done after your dog made such a mess.

[identity profile] hellsingmaster.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Considering this yard belongs to my dog, I believe he can decorate as he likes, Catholic.

Did the ornaments surprise you?

...what subordinate?

[identity profile] skybound-love.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oi. Stop yelling.

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm the damned Archbishop, I'll yell all I want!

[identity profile] skybound-love.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
You're perfectly safe right now, you're just going to attract any trouble that's out there by losing control. You have to keep calm. Those things move slow, so just shuffle away from it at a brisk pace. Head for the lights of the main area.

[Maxwell gave him an odd stare, no that particular section rang no bells.]

You're not of Matthew the Gifts of God? But your vestments..

[Inwardly he was already seething that there were secrets within the Vatican kept even from him.]

Strange, I thought all wings of the Vatican had been relieved to me. Yet perhaps I must be of Cardinal status for that... Hahh all in due time.

[Clapping his hands together once, he looked about ready to leave.]

Care to tell me your name before we head off?

[ACTION!]

[identity profile] 13sugars.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
[He returned the stare, pretending to be just as confused as he was.]

AX is pretty well known where I'm from. Arcanum Cella ex Dono Dei. ... Maybe it's an offshoot.

Well... Our director is Cardinal Sforza. She's the one who founded the section.

[He simply shrugged]

Heading off? To where?

Oh! Ah, Abel. Father Abel Nightroad. And you are?

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
With his sacrilegious tastes, not at all.

Here I thought this parched land was yours, my mistake.

Ah, one of the other Chapters of course, I haven't caught the name.

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
...?!

Ah, right.

Of course, I'm obliged for the advice. I have my subordinate with me now, I'm stolid as can be.

[ACTION!]

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
[There was a deadpan from the man as if his entire world had just shattered into a million horrible pieces.]

Arcanum. Sforza. She?

What!?

[It would take a while to collect those pieces.]

And you don't know who I am?!

I'm Archbishop Enrico Maxwell, Bureau Director of Section XIII Iscariot and Leader of the 9th Crusade as Ordained by Pope John Paul the II!

[Maxwell suddenly looked very, very faint, the color completely drained from his face as he held a hand to his throbbing head and stumbled just a bit.]
Edited 2009-08-30 05:13 (UTC)

[identity profile] hellsingmaster.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Do not be snide, Maxwell. This is hardly the place for it.

[ACTION!]

[identity profile] 13sugars.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
... Yes?

[He watched, almost fascinated as the man gave him his name and rank, the only reply for the moment from Abel being a blank stare. He'd never heard of the name before, though he'd of course be courteous and take orders from an Arch-Bishop as well. After all, he was outranked.]

I haven't heard of Iscariot before... Our current Pope is Alessandro XVIII, the 399th Pope of Rome, year 3065 AD.

[May as well come clean with that]

AX was founded in 3055 AD by Cardinal Caterina Sforza, The Duchess of Milan.

[He took a nervous step forward as Maxwell stumbled back, worried.]

Maybe we ought to find you a place to sit down...

[identity profile] 13th-crusader.livejournal.com 2009-08-30 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Oh? Isn't it? We're in the Post-Apocalypse after all, I think I deserve to be cynical after surviving above all.
