[]Daniel 12:2

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake.
Some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
[]

[☨]It's late by now, and by the time the camera flickers on to spy on the man, it's already a little too dark in the room to see. Light from the hospital hallway gives a dim view of Maxwell drearily coming in and out of sleep. With a moan he rolls over, not wanting to wake up, but at the same time, not wanting to go back to dreaming that dream again. Shifting, he hears the bed give an unfamiliar creak, and as meticulous as he was, he knew..[☨]

This isn't my bed.

[☨]Dizzily he sat up in the dark, glancing with contemptible disdain to the blinking screen.[☨]

Oh will you get behind me already? I don't know where I am, and you're the last thing I want to see.

[☨]Curling his finger, he gives the screen a flick, snapping if off.[☨]

((ooc: Abel-mun, say he went back to sleep, and he can awake to find Abel there for whenever you get back! <3 ))

[He wasn't going to lie to the man]

Sir Hellsing told me that she wanted me to inform her if something happened, yes.

As of late however, I don't really think Sir Hellsing needs to know anything about this without your consent. It's a personal matter and it's your own choice on who you want to have know about the situation. She's not your mother after all, nor my employer, and I'm not your nanny.

[Something about his wording, how it threaded truth and pleasant airs that catered to his small desires. It made him believe, no, want to believe.

A patient smile curved his thin mouth, with an intrigued quirk of his brow.]

You're certainly something else, Father Nightroad.

[It hadn't taken long to at least put together a few of the things that made Enrico tick. His pride was key, and the last thing he needed was to get the man riled up. The more relaxed and at ease he was, the faster he'd get better. Abels expression didn't change as he settled back in his chair again, adjusting his glasses.]

Would that be a compliment or just an observation?

Both, I would presume.

[The archbishop knew not what this man was. Barely understood where he came from. And only knew that the Church of his distant future accepted him as a guardian, like Anderson to his own.]

You'll have to excuse my wonderment about you.

[Abel was not your ordinary priest, it was natural that the man be questionable about him, wasn't it? Their presents differed so greatly, and choking such revelations down was admittedly difficult for the lowly human.]

Well then, thank you.

[And Abel saw no need to explain it. Right now, Maxwell knew only a touch less about him than Integra truly did. He hoped to keep it that way. Neither of them needed to know everything, and what little information they had suited him just fine.]

I'm used to it by now, that's okay.

[Abel, on the other hand, only wished to watch over Enrico. He'd ask no prying questions. Anything he needed to know, he could learn through simply watching the Archbishop, and he had all the time and patience in the world to do so. Thanks already to Anderson, Alucard and Integra, he already had a fairly good grasp so far on what the past, Enricos present, was like. But what of the man? He had his picture almost entirely pieced together already.]

[What a disturbing thought that would be, if only he knew. Enrico did all that he could to keep himself closed off.. Yet Discedo had brought out the worst in him. It was what damned him to that bed at that moment, and almost lamenting it, he had no idea how to find a way out of the trench he had dug himself.]

Such a burden to be used to...

[Idle hands took to folding his bloodied handkerchief into smaller and smaller squares as he dwelled on that. He himself carried all the burden of the Vatican on his shoulders. Every demon they incurred the wrath of fell directly on him.

And he himself accepted it with all his heart and soul.]

Never a dull day for you, I imagine.

[It was how Abel operated. He was a curious man in all honesty. He wanted to know about the people he worked with and helped. And to learn it through simple observation was often the best way, rather than trying to force it out of them. Everything came in good time. Though... indeed, in a place like Discedo, it was hard to tell what was the real personality, and what was brought on by living in this city.]

It's not so bad. I've had a while to get used to it.

[As well he knew the duties of an Archbishop. It seemed almost like an endless job, so much work for someone who wasn't a Cardinal.]

Not really. The off days are pretty nice though.

Days off...

[The Iscariot mused with a tired sigh, resting his chin in his palm.]

I remember those, vaguely.

[Sometime during his childhood, he supposed, that part of his life he was at a constant war to blank out completely.]

I suppose this place is somewhat a vacation for you? Dreary a resort-spot as it is.
